The Assignment
Take a photograph that says something sociological about Saratoga Springs. The content of the photograph should readily convey sociological meanings, even as viewers might see different aspects depending on their own social location, without the need for text beyond a caption and/or title. Imagine that you are taking a photograph that we could use as a cover image for Visual Studies. Because of the format of the journal, portrait orientation works better than landscape orientation.
Send me your photograph by noon on the 22nd. We’ll view them at the end of the business meeting, prior to the end of the conference.
